# App changelog

## September 2026 update: a new booking experience, rental templates & Rent-to-own

*Released: September 28, 2026*

This is our biggest update yet. Your customers get a cleaner way to book, you get faster setup with reusable rental templates, and there are new ways to earn more on every rental: add-on services, custom booking fields, and Rent-to-own on the new Professional plan.

### Highlights

* **2-step booking popup** that fits any theme, on desktop and mobile
* **App Embed**: turn FlexCon on once, with no theme editing
* **Delivery methods** (shipping, pickup, local delivery), each with its own availability
* **Add-on services** and **custom booking fields** *(Growth and Professional)*
* **Rent-to-own**: let renters buy the item they are renting *(Professional)*
* **Store timezone** for the booking calendar

### ⚠️ Already using FlexCon? Do this first

1. **Enable the FlexCon App Embed.** The new booking popup, delivery methods, add-ons and custom fields only work through the App Embed. Click **Enable app** on the banner in FlexCon, then click **Save** in the theme editor. Once the embed is on, your old app block is no longer used.

2. **Check your email templates.** Templates you have edited are not updated automatically. To show add-ons and pickup/return times in your emails, open the template and click **Reset to default**. This removes your custom edits, so copy them first.
3. **Your existing rental products keep their current settings** (shown as *Custom settings*). You can move them to a template at any time with **Bulk apply**.

### 🛒 Storefront

#### New 2-step booking popup · All plans

The rental section no longer takes over your product page. Customers see the price ("Rent from…") and a **Select date** button. The booking then happens in a popup:

* **Step 1:** quantity, delivery method, and rental dates or time slots
* **Step 2:** add-ons, custom fields, and an order summary with a clear estimated total

On mobile, the popup opens as a bottom sheet. Every text in the popup can be changed or translated in **Text customization**.

#### App Embed replaces the app block · All plans

There is no more dragging blocks around in the theme editor. Turn on the FlexCon App Embed once, and the rental section appears in the right place on your product pages.

#### Booking calendar in your store's timezone · All plans

The calendar and time slots now follow your **store's timezone**, not the customer's device. Time slots that have already passed today are hidden automatically.

#### Delivery methods with their own availability · All plans

Offer **Shipping**, **Pickup in store** and **Local delivery**. Each method has its own operating hours, buffer time and blocked dates.

### 💰 Earn more on every rental

#### Add-on services · Growth and Professional

Offer up to **3 add-ons** with every rental, such as damage protection, cleaning or accessories. Add-ons are regular Shopify products. You can mark them **Selected by default**, or make one **Required** for specific products. Customers pick add-ons in Step 2 of the popup.

Set it up in **Settings › Advanced › Add-on charge**.

#### Custom booking fields · Growth and Professional

Collect the information you need at booking, for example a delivery address note, a shoe size or the number of guests. Add up to **3 fields** (Text or Number) and mark each one Required or Optional. Answers appear in the rental order details and in your merchant notification email.

Custom fields **replace the old "Additional note" field**. Answers on past orders are kept.

#### Duration discounts on the product page · Growth and Professional

Your tiered duration discounts now show as a table on the product page, so customers see the benefit of renting longer before they pick their dates.

### 🔁 Rent-to-own · Professional

Let customers **buy the item they are renting**, straight from their order page. The rent they have already paid counts toward the price:

> **Buy price** = Product price − (Rental credit % × rent paid) − deposit paid

You set the rental credit between 0% and 100% (100% by default). The customer pays through a normal Shopify checkout, and you see what was purchased in the rental order details.

To set it up, go to **Settings › Advanced › Rent-to-own**, turn it on, then follow the 2-step guide to add the blocks to your Order status page.

The new **Professional** plan includes everything in Growth, plus **Rent-to-own**, **300 rental orders per month** and priority support. It comes with a **14-day free trial**. See all plans in **Pricing**.
